Workshop: Superadobe

Ctrl+Z trained in Superadobe technique directly at the Cal-Earth Institute in California founded by Nader Khalili, completing in 2012 its Long Term Apprenticeship Program.
Since then has co-instructed more than 10 official workshops on the topic in Spain.
Starting July 2013 develops independently his activity and has applied the technique in different projects.

10-15, 20 with other instructor
Program:
All topics of the workshop will be presented in a theoretical way or communications classes before being applied in a practical way for construction.
During the workshop thematic lessons with independent practical activities may also be developed.
The workshop will cover the following topics:

> Presentation of the technique.
> Principles and theories of the bow; the geometry of the dome.
> Layout and basic orientation.
> Superadobe – Basic Techniques .
> Construction and use of the compass.
> Soil – analysis and stabilization.
> Design elements.
> Waterproofing.
> Doors & Windows – Advanced Techniques.
> Plaster and finishes.
> Techniques of incorporating installations.
> Introduction to passive systems for energy savings.
The program is developed so that the end of the course participants will have all the practical skills and theoretical knowledges to begin building their knowledge own Superadobe structure. Anyway we advise those students who are not familiar with processes of self-building, to broaden their experience with the construction of a small or medium size structures before facing biggest projects.
All Ctrl+Z’s courses can be developed indifferently in English, Spanish or Italian.
